Private Facebook Groups for Straight Spouses and Trans Widows
After discovering that your partner (or former partner) is LGBTQIA+, you’re likely feeling alone and isolated. You may find it helpful to join other straight spouses in one of our private Facebook communities to learn, grow, and heal with others going through a similar struggle:
- Not My Closet: Women (This group is for women who are or were married to a closeted LGBTQIA+ partner, or someone still in denial about being sexually oriented towards men. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve just discovered the truth, your partner is still in denial, or you’re further along in your journey to rebuilding and thriving.
- Not My Closet: Moving On! (This group is for both male and female straight spouses and partners of trans people who have left the relationship and are at least 2+ years post-discovery.)
To prioritise group safety and privacy, I screen all potential members to ensure only straight spouses are added. Please complete the form below, and let’s get you connected!
Note: If you’ve decided to stay in your mixed-orientation relationship, you may find a MOM group more helpful. Also, please note that these groups are not suitable for therapy clients. If you’re interested in therapy or coaching, reach out to me here.
Please note: I am a straight spouse specialist and offer these groups as a free service. However, the groups are not therapy, and group membership does not constitute a therapeutic relationship.

Hi, I'm Karen - Counsellor, Coach, and owner of Not My Closet
I’ve walked a similar path to the one you’re travelling, having discovered that my husband was gay after 24 years of marriage. I know something of the pain and disbelief, the grief and loss and… the possibility of finding hope again!
I am a therapeutic counsellor and straight spouse coach, and I work with people just like you in my private clinic. These groups are my pro bono offering to help straight spouses find connection and support, and I also offer occasional content to encourage and support group members.
- You don’t need to be lonely or isolated anymore – you can come alongside others who get it, and together you can heal.
- You don’t need to suffer in silence anymore – you can find your voice and be heard.
- You don’t need to stay stuck in confusion – you can find clarity and hope as you rebuild your life.
Note: although I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I don’t take on a therapeutic role in the groups, and my comments or posts aren’t intended as therapy. You can read more about me here if you like. You’re also welcome to get in touch via the link at the bottom of the page if you have any questions.
