Why Weekly Sessions Matter
When your world has been turned upside down by the discovery that your partner has been hiding their sexuality or gender identity, it can feel like everything you thought was true has collapsed. This kind of betrayal trauma often leads to a profound sense of chaos, confusion, and emotional overwhelm. You have lost your safety net. This leaves you floundering and looking for a safe place to land, particularly if you have not had a secure, reliable, nurturing, relational environment during childhood. Even if you had a secure attachment to your caregivers as a child, intimate partner betrayal is an attachment rupture that can shatter the secure foundation.
I work with a weekly psychotherapy model and also offer weekly coaching packages. This means sessions are held weekly at the same time until you choose to end, or our work naturally draws to a close. At that point, we’ll plan a therapeutic ending, with optional check-in sessions later if needed.
This helps rebuild what betrayal and early attachment wounds have broken. It is a consistent, reliable, healing cocoon. When trust has been shattered through a partner’s deception or childhood experiences of inconsistency or abandonment, the reliability of a therapist who shows up, same day and time each week, becomes part of your healing. You don’t have to fight for your time each week, as this hour is set aside just for you.
Some benefits of weekly sessions
- Attachment Repair
The discovery of deception in a close relationship often results in an attachment rupture. Weekly sessions help rebuild a sense of safety and trust. Knowing that your therapist or coach will be there reliably each week helps restore your sense of safety and security, increasing your capacity for trusting relationships. - Emotional Containment
Weekly sessions create a rhythm that helps regulate your nervous system. You don’t have to hold everything alone. You know there’s a space coming within the week where you can process what’s happening. - Therapeutic Momentum
Healing from betrayal trauma is not linear. Meeting weekly allows us to build on each session, deepening insight and integration over time. Sporadic or ad hoc sessions can interrupt this flow, making it harder to stay grounded and see progress. - Reducing Chaos
When life feels chaotic, it’s tempting to seek help only when things feel unbearable, but this can reinforce crisis-driven patterns. In contrast, weekly therapy offers structure and predictability, which is a stabilising force in the storm. - Rebuilding Trust
Betrayal shatters trust. Weekly sessions help rebuild that trust, not just in others, but in yourself. Knowing your therapist or coach will be there at the same time each week, without constant changes, helps you experience someone as reliable and present.
Weekly sessions are more than a scheduling preference — it’s a therapeutic tool. It’s part of how you can rebuild trust, regulate emotions, and move from chaos to clarity. If you’re navigating betrayal trauma, I invite you to consider the healing power of regular, reliable support.
